The first quarter of 2018 witnessed a significant escalation in tension between the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Basin, especially between Turkey and the Republic of Cyprus on the one hand, and Lebanon and Israel on the other, due to the competition between these countries to exploit the natural resources in this region.
     Against the backdrop of these alliances, competition may develop to form the nucleus of a new conflict with different geopolitical and strategic determinants of the past, especially in the context of the complexity surrounding the political and economic aspirations of these countries to gain the advantages of the Regional Energy Center in this region where water borders and energy interests are intertwined; Where many of the regional and international parties have sought to turn the course of this complex issue to preserve their interests and to become an influence on the resently discovered gas fields.
