In recent years, there has been a rise in global interest in environmental issues, people working to improve environmental performance in development projects and raise environmental awareness, with the goal of integrating environmental concerns with social and economic concerns in development sectors.
Simultaneously, environmental decisions remained a source of constant debate. Not only because it failed to put in place appropriate legal mechanisms or sound implementation tools, or because it failed to seek solutions to problems of critical environmental degradation, but also because it failed to respond effectively to new challenges and failed to achieve the expected results in terms of environmental safety and integration with development, or what is known as sustainable development.
This led to an increased interest in increasing environmental awareness among decision-makers and the emergence of a growing interest in sustainability assessments, and an environmental impact assessment began to emerge to determine the expected environmental, social, and economic impacts of projects they need to strengthen environmental impact assessment, particularly at a level beyond the project, has arisen, leading to the emergence of the concept of environmental impact assessment beyond the project. This aids decision-makers in better understanding how environmental, social, and economic factors factor into strategic decisions.
Research aims to use and activation of the concept of strategic environmental assessment tools and method in the methodologies for developing plans for new Egyptian cities in order to align with development goals and sustainable development goals
