Arabic Sign language Recognition using Radial Signature and Dynamic Time Warping

Abstract

Deaf communities face daily troubles communicating with others in society. A link between
the communication with sign language and natural language is needed to facilitate the life
of the deaf community. This paper, proposes a methodology based on image processing and
dynamic time warping to translate the deaf signs to natural language. The technique based
on radial signature as a feature extraction methodology and the dynamic time warping for
the classification of features vectors. The experimental results of the proposed algorithm
indicated eighty percent of real-time recognition on sets of 5 letters.
