Abstract

Depression is defined as a condition affecting negatively the feelings, thinking and the way of acting; manifested by loss of interest, feelings of sadness, decrease in activities once enjoyed before, discouragement or hopelessness. Major depression disorder itself being a big burden worldwide and affecting general population at rate of 17% regardless of age consideration. Worldwide depression affects people at estimated rate of one in 15 adults in any given year and one in six people will experience depression at some time in their life. Diagnosed and treated, Major depression disorder is a curable psychiatric condition.
Suicide is defined suicide as act of intentionally causing one's own death. Suicide is different from parasuicide which is action of self-harming without intention to die. It is the 10th leading cause of death in USA with 44,000 deaths every year and in 2015 about 800,000 suicide deaths reported worldwide. Major depression disorder (MDD) leads to suicide of about 80% in all suicide attempts committed by psychiatric patients.
