Abstract

• The commonest malignancy of the brain is the metastatic brain tumor. Most of the brain metastatic patients have a known primary cancer, however, in 5-10% of brain metastatic patients, there is no primary tumor is detected.
• Recently CE-MRI is the imaging modality of choice for brain tumours. T1WI is the preferred MR sequence in contrast imaging at most organizations.
• FLAIR sequences are considered mainly as T2-weighted imaging but with dark CSF, acquired by applying long TR, long TE, and inversion time (TI). Clinically, FLAIR succeeds in displaying lesions not detected on the conventional T2-weighted sequences.
• In a theoretical basis, with imaging time delay as in FLAIR sequence, brain metastases lesions occupied with the contrast agent resulting in easily detection of more small lesions and enhancing the signal intensity.
Aim of the work
This study aimed to assess the value of delayed post-contrast Fluid Attenuated Inversion Recovery sequence in metastatic brain disease compared to post-contrast T1 sequences.
