Abstract

The Egyptian cotton, Gossypium barbadense L. is a strategic crop with glorious history in Egypt. The cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover and the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch are a polyphagous sap sucking aphid pest of cotton throughout the world. True spiders are one of the most abundance predatory groups in terrestrial ecosystems. The importance of the community of the true spiders as a mortality factor, that they capture a greater number of prey species than they consume. Spiders fed on insects and small arthropods, and they can play an important role in pest control. The occurrence of spider families associated with cotton at Beni-Suef governorate was collected 313 and 285 specimens while, at Qalyubia governorate recorded 390 and 349 specimens in 2019 and 2020. The spiders belonging to 17 families, 35 genera and 41 different spider species at Qaha station, Qalyubia governorate. Whereas, nine families, 27 genera and 34 different spider species at Beni-Suef governorate. The highest abundant families were Philodromidae, Theridiidae, Salticidae, Thomisidae and Cheiracanthiidae. The highest percentage frequency of occurrence of the collected spider species was Thanatus albini, Cheiracanthium inclusum, Dictyna innocens and Pulchellodromus glaucinus at Beni-Suef and Qalyubia governorates. Tetranychus urticae was increased from mid-May to reach a peak in mid-August. Aphis gossypii was recorded with moderate number in mid-May and gradually increased to June. Associated spiders were recorded to peak in mid-July. The combined effect of weather factors on population dynamics of both T. urticae and A. gossypii were insignificant over the two seasons and locations in most cases. It had less significant effect once considered pests' population dynamics than plant age. Plant age as third degree of polynomial had much more significant effect. Biological studied to the common spider species, Pulchellodromus glaucinus (Simon) (Araneae: Philodromidae) was studied when feeding on Tetranychus urticae and Aphis gossypii at 25 and 30°C under laboratory conditions. It was significantly different between the constant temperatures, the shortest incubation period of male and female was recorded at 30°C and the longest period was recorded at 25°C. The shortest total spiderlings lasted 61.0 days for female and 49.3 days for male at 30 °C when fed on A.gossypii  while, the longest period was 72.8 days for female fed on mixed food T. urticae + A.gossypii at 25°C, and recorded 56.8 days for male at 30°C on the same food. The longest longevity lasted 8.0 and 28.3 days at 25°C fed on mixed food T. urticae + A.gossypii  while, the shortest period was 6.8 and 24.0 days at 30°C when fed on A.gossypii, for male and female, respectively. The female consumed about 57.3 and 54.5 during the longevity stage when fed on T. urticae + A.gossypii  and A.gossypii at 25 and 54.5 and 55.5 individuals at 30°C, respectively. Molecular Genetic Evaluation of four Families; Philodromidae, Theridiidae, Salticidae and Cheiracanthiidae based on ISSR. the highest similarity was recorded between the families (Philodromidae, Theridiidae) (Philodromidae, Cheiracanthiidae) and (Theridiidae, Cheiracanthiidae) estimated by 80% in additional it present between families (Salticidae and Cheiracanthiidae). But 90% between two families (Salticidae and Cheiracanthiidae) in case ISSR analysis.
