Abstract

and its criticism. Previous research tackling reading strategies of gender is discussed to see how gender influences reading and the different reading strategies of males and females. The findings are concluded in the fact that female readers‘ reading strategies highly influence their enjoyment of the genre. The analysis yielded the results that the female reader tends to react emotionally to characters, therefore, they usually identify with the detective. Moreover, her sharp ability of inference and paying attention to hidden messages in texts makes her expect the solutions of mysteries. Consequently, the female reader has a sense of accomplishment.
