Abstract

The antibodies to virus associated (VIA) antigen of the foot and mouth disease (FMD) virus were detected in sera samples of experimental infected calves using counterimmunoelectrophoresis (CIEP) in comparison with Agar Gel Diffusion Precipitin (AGDP) test. The precipitation bands appeared in 60 minutes with CIEP while the results of AGDP read after 7 days. Moreover, the use of CIEP technique proved simple to perform and very economic in the use of reagents.
