-Abstract
Gumboro (GD) or infectious bursal disease (IBD) and Reo disease are two viral diseases affecting chicken causing great economic losses. The present work was planned to prepare a combined inactivated oil vaccine. On the comparison between the potency of IBD and Reo monovalent and combined vaccines, It was found that all vaccines resulted in good protection percentage which was 95% for monovalent IBD, 100% for monovalent Reo; 90% for IBD and 93.3% for Reo in the combined vaccine. Serum neutralization test revealed that specific neutralizing antibodies against IBD and Reo viruses were produced in the sera of vaccinated chicken from the 1st week post vaccination recording a peak titre by the 3rd week without any adverse. The level of formed antibodies began to decrease in all groups of vaccinated chicken between the 8th to 9th week post vaccination. Bursal body weight indiced and bursal examination did not show any abnormalities due to any vaccination. So, it could be concluded that the inactivated IBD and Reo combined vaccine is a safe and potent vaccine protects chicken against the two diseases.
