في أواخر القرن الثالث عشر الميلاديّ؛ حاقت الأخطار بمملکة الأرمن في قيليقية مع تداعي الکيان الصليبيّ في الشرق على أيدي المماليک الطامحين، ويوضح البحث کيف کان للقلاقل السياسيّة أعمق الأثر في السياسة الدينية للملوک الأرمن في قيليقية، والتي ألقت بظلالها على أوضاع الجاثليقية الأرمنية، ويتعرض البحث لمرحلة حرجة في تاريخ الجاثليقية الأرمنية، فيتناول بالدراسة أيامها الأخيرة في هرومکلا ثم انتقال مقرها إلى سيس، کما يُظهر البحث الاختلاف بين موقف رجال الدين الأرمن في أرمينية الکبرى وبين موقف القيادات الدينية في مملکة الأرمن في قيليقية، من فکرة الوحدة بين الکنيسة الأرمنية والکنيستين: البيزنطية واللاتينية، وذلک من خلال ما کتبه ستيبانوس أوربيليان مطران سيونيک.
