Abstract

Illustration is one of the most important fields in our daily life since the old times. It is found in newspapers, magazines, printings …etc. and it plays an important role in enriching them visually. Illustration has developed after the existence of computer and internet and it is affected by the technological development, where designers are fiercely competing worldwide. Therefore, every designer has to be constantly searching for modern theories in art fields generally and illustration specifically to find new design solutions so that their artworks would be eye catching and distinguishable. One of the most important elements in illustration is the human figure, and using the dynamic element, that focuses on the motion in the design, makes the human figure more attractive to the viewer, because the human eye tends to follow things in motion or that seems to be moving. This research discusses the elements of the human figure design and introduces one of the theories that leads to an attractive, innovative human figure design that can strongly compete worldwide. This theory is (Force) by the artist Michael D. Mattesi which depends on the  dynamic pose in human figure design through focusing on the rhythm, the flow of motion and fluidity, even the static poses look dynamic. Statement of the problem: The lack of dynamic in many human figure designs in illustrations, which leads to lessen the effect of the character design on the viewer and his attraction to the illustration. Also, some designers oversight the importance of the dynamic element in illustrations and their designs lose liveliness by neglecting that element in the human figure. Objectives: The research aims to depend on the dynamic element in human figure design as an attraction element to reach a successful and eye-catching illustration design. Methodology: The research adopts the descriptive analytical methodology through analyzing the dynamic pose of the human figure designs in some illustrations according to Michael D. Mattesi's (Force) theory. Results: When the designer aims to express motion and liveliness in the human figure design, he succeeds in making a dynamic illustration. Besides, reaching some characteristics to design a dynamic human figure according to Michael D. Mattesi's (Force) theory. In conclusion, following the (Force) theory of Michael D. Mattesi, that emphasizes the motion element in the human figure design, leads to have an illustration with dynamic pose that is appealing, characterized with fluidity and can strongly compete worldwide.
