Benefiting from Origami Art in Fashion Draping By Using Diverse Fabrics

Abstract

The objective: to employ the aesthetic and morphological characteristics of origami art in the work of draping, by identifying the materials that can be used in the design on the manicans. Methodology: The research followed the analytical descriptive method that describes the art of origami, analyzes it and measures the acceptance of these designs by specialists and consumers. Application for making proposed designs executed in the design style on the manicans.  The research tools consisted of an evaluation questionnaire for the executed designs, which was presented to the textile and textile specialists from the University faculty and the corresponding universities. In addition, a sample of 147 consumers in the Jeddah region were given their opinions on the origami designs and organza. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences at a level of (0,05) between the average degree of designs executed from the leather material from the point of view of specialists in favor of the first design. In addition, there were statistically significant differences at a level of (0.05) among the average grades of designs made from organza material from the point of view of specialists in favor of the fifth design. There were statistically significant differences at a mean of (0.05) between the average grade of the designs of the skin material from the point of view of consumers in favor of the second design. In addition, there were statistically significant differences at an indication level (0.05) among the average grades of designs made from organza material from the point of view of consumers in favor of the fifth design. In addition, there were statistically significant differences at the level of (0,05) among the six designs implemented according to the opinions of the specialists in favor of the first design in the skin thickness, and in favor of the second design of the skin thickness for consumers. Conclusion: The study concludes that further studies should be carried out to investigate elements of the aesthetics of origami.
