Abstract

Curtains fabrics are considered as key products that reflect the community needs due its principle role in creating the harmony in any furnishing, in addition to its functional importance. Hence comes the importance to focus on studying and developing those types of textile, aiming to achieve the quality of appearance and performance, and the superiority to other competitors. In fact, Functionality of curtains fabrics depends on natural and mechanical factors. Those factors are variant and include textile weaves, material type, thread size and thread density. Indeed, honeycomb weave is one of the unique textile weaves that plays an important role in providing the fabrics with aesthetic appearance, due to its special dovetailing properties. The present study aimed to add an innovative aesthetic effects to curtains fabrics by using honeycomb textile and inducing prominent and deep textile structures, in addition to enhancing curtains functional properties. This was demonstrated by using 100% cotton made honeycomb textile .Various experimental methods were conducted to demonstrate the effect of the application of modified honeycomb textile on functional and aesthetic properties of curtains fabrics. The modification was applied by changing various variables including thread weft density 14 pick\cm, 16 pick\cm, 20 pick\ cm, change of thread weft color (using the same color in warp and weft, using different color in warp and weft, using gradient weft color without changing warp color). Consequently, the modification methods were assessed and compared to choose the ones with best results. Moreover, a main study principle was to replace the woven ground of the textile plain 2/2 from the weft with plain 1/1, this lead to different grade of deflation in comparison to the extended weave when exposed to high temperatures, resulting in prominent and deep structures of the textile. This principle has been experimentally tested, and the resultant samples achieved acceptable success according to experts' evaluation. Further, the samples produced using thread density 20 pick\cm and color gradient were the best regarding aesthetic and functional curtain properties, Next to it were the samples produced using thread density 20 pick\cm and using deferent color in warp and weft. In contrast, the samples produced using thread density 14 pick\cm using the same color in warp and weft were the least with properties enhancement. Problem; The lack of scientific research that dealt with the installation of Textile Honeycomb and take advantage of its aesthetic value to enrich the furnishings, prompting researchers to study the possibility of adapting the Honeycomb to produce curtains manner (prominent - deep), which peppered the curtains aesthetic and functional properties of new ones. Objective; Study the effects of the introduction of innovative textile installation Textile Honeycomb to suit the production of curtain fabrics comply with the requirements of the modern era. Significance; Imparted an innovative aesthetic effect on the aesthetics of the fabric of the curtains using Honeycomb including wrought from the effects of a prominent and deep and improve the functional properties of raw cotton curtains using 100% of its production.   Major results; The best results in terms of aesthetics and functional fabrics for curtains producing research variables are:   - Weft thread density of 20 picks / cm Gradient color of weft thread,  followed by the intensity of a weft thread 20 picks / cm - Different color weft thread with the color of warp thread. The samples appeared less in terms of aesthetic and functional fabrics is weft density 14 picks / cm weft thread color similar to the color of warp thread.
