Abstract

This paper presents a linear programming (LP) based approach for the alleviation of line overloads by generation rescheduling and load shedding. The algorithm is based on solving a linearized set of optimal equations. The objective function for generation rescheduling is to minimize the linearized system operating cost while satisfying the system equality and inequality constraints. In respect to load shedding scheme, the objective function is to minimize the total load demand to be shed taking into account the operating constraints of the maximum load that can be shed; to ensure a minimum service at each bus; and the step of load 10 be shed. The results for the 6-bus and 25-bus lest systems are presented 10 show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
