Abstract

The urban communities in Egypt suffer from a \01 of problems which affect negatively the social,  economic, environmental quality of people life in these communities. The most important problems arc: the  continous and increased need (or housing in the lime that slum areas increased, poverty and increased unemployment due to the shortage of job opportunities as a result of weakness of the economic base of these  communities. the shortage of infrastructure and services, and environmental pollution produced from the increase quantities of waste.The strategic approach to develop the urban communities in Egypt depends mainly on overcoming  these main problems in order to improve the quality of people life specially the poor. This paper discusses developing the urban community in Almansoura city is a Case study, and  proposes a strategy for developing it This proposed strategy may contribute as a guide for developing other  urban communities in Egypt.
