Abstract

The rehabilitation and reuse of heritage buildings is one of the most important methods of preservation, especially those buildings that have attention from the state to its historical value. Unique architectural and heritage features characterized the region of Najran in southern Saudi Arabia that produced buildings and architectural monuments adapted to the environmental, climatic, economic and social conditions that characterized the region
This architectural heritage can be preserved by re-use it in an investment form without compromising its archaeological value to meet the requirements of Contemporary society
The objective of this research is to evaluate the experience of conserving the heritage buildings by re-using them in an investment manner; by studying the rehabilitation and use of the historic palace of the “Imarah" as one of the heritage sites in the Najran region, focusing on the concept of environmental sustainability and construction of local environmental materials
The research depends on the actual field registration conducted by the researchers, in addition to reference to scientific references related to the subject and the research area, considering the development and additions that do not disturb the urban heritage
The expected results of this research are not only related to the study area, but also to many areas that have architectural and heritage areas similar to the study area
