Abstract

This equation allows the prediction of the angle of lean of a runner for any velocity, v, and cornering radius r.  Typically for an athlete running at 10 m/s (a 200 m race) around an athletics track of radius of rotation 40 m, the angle of lean would be 14°. If the athlete performed on an indoor track of radius of rotation 20 m then the angle of lean would increase to 27°. (11: 175 176)
