Abstract

This study aimed to identify the documentation of the life of the late King Hussein bin Talal through the photograph by the lens of photographer Zohrab Markarian, and to identify the topics, and technical characteristics of the photographs that documented the life of His Majesty by classifying them into groups. The study used the two descriptive analytical and historical approaches. The results were analyzed statistically by using the software (SPSS) for the study sample that consists of 600 photographs from the time period (1973-1999). The results in the photographs that documented His Majesty's life in terms of subjects indicated that the photographs with family subjects have a greater percentage in the whole time period (1973-1999), and the largest percentage of photographs in the second time period (1980-1999) was 36.2. As for the qualities, it was the highest percentage in terms of the whole number in the eighties time period, and the technical characteristics had a negligible error percentage, due to Marcarian's experience and professionalism. On this basis, the study recommended collecting the photos of His Majesty the late King Hussein, published and unpublished within certain classifications, to be easily obtained by researchers, and also to document the life of important figures in Jordan photographically to be considered as a historical legacy, and the research also recommended adding a special section for photographs that document everything related to Jordan in the libraries of Jordanian universities and allow researchers to obtain them.
