Abstract

This study included 125 patients with acute cholecystitis of them 29 were males. All were subjected to fundus-first (FF) laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The mean operative time was 63±8 minutes (range 37-95 minutes). There were 4 cases of prolonged post-operative bile leakage, 3 of them stopped spontaneously within one week, and last one needed an endoscopic biliary stent. Gall bladder perforation with peritoneal contamination occurred in 6 patients. Laparoscopic trans-choledochal CBD exploration was indicated in 3 patients due to residual stone in intra-operative cholangiography. Conversion to open cholecystectomy was acquired in 4 patients the mean hospital stay was 1.6 days (range 6 hours to
5 days) except those with post-operative bile leakage that stayed from 8-14 days. Key words: acute cholecystitis, laparoscopic cholecystectomy,
