Abstract

The present study concentrates on the method used in solving the optimization problem of
geodetic networks. In this context, there are two solution techniques that can be used in the
solution of the optimization problem; namely: least squares technique and non- linear
programming method. Hence, the main objective of the present paper is to evaluate the solution of
the optimization problem using non- linear programming. An overview of both least squares
technique and non-linear programming method, as applied to the optimization problem will be
given .The results will be discussed and analyzed. The obtained results showed the superiority of
the non-linear programming method
