RECONFIGURABLE POLARIZATION CONVERTERS USING EBG STRUCTURES WITH VARACTOR DIODES

Abstract

A simple procedure for the design of polarization converters is developed. The requirements for polarization transformation are derived. The transmission line model for the converter is presented and the design procedure is outlined. Reconfigurable polarization converters with varactor diodesare designed to transform a linearly polarized incident wave to a linearly perpendicular polarized and to a circularly polarized reflected waves are designed.FEM and FIT numerical techniques are used to simulate the proposed EBG structures through HFSS, and CST microwave studio respectively.
