The literary text is a very important didactic resource in the language class, because it offers the student an example with which they can develop their linguistic, pragmatic, discursive and cultural competence. For these reasons, in the present study we have as main objective to justify the importance of the use of the literary text as didactic material in the E/LE class, in the Spanish Language Departments both at the University of Helwan and at the University of Badr de Cairo (BUC), as an example of the teaching of this language in Egypt. Therefore, we intend to reflect on the use of literary texts as teaching material in our classrooms. To do this, we will investigate the validity and effectiveness of the use of literary texts as an ideal tool for the teaching-learning of Spanish, from a communicative approach. Always keeping in mind that literature is the best way to learn/teach a foreign language.
