The Arabic and Chinese languages are characterized by eloquence and rhetoric, the rhetorical styles are very rich in both languages. Anyone who contemplates the Arabic rhetoric and Chinese rhetoric discovers a startling similarity between the rhetorical styles in the two languages. They both have metaphor, metonymy, homophonic, “Shuang guan" (a word or phrase with double meaning) ...etc The paper deals with the similarities and differences between parallelism that is found in the two languages. From the analysis of definition, types, and rhetorical function supported by examples, the paper concludes similarities (for example: compatibility of sentences in structure, length, shortness, negation, proof etc) and differences (for example: number of sentences and types of parallelism in each language). The paper aims to deepen the students' (Chinese and Arab) knowledge of Arabic rhetoric and Chinese rhetoric through comparison, which would help each of them to taste the other's rhetoric and use it correctly.
