Establishing digital libraries became an important phenomenon in the Digital Age. Users and information seekers of various types and different backgrounds found in digital libraries solutions to many challenges traditionally faced. Digital libraries offered many services and provided many advantages to information seekers, which helped to a great extent in saving time, money and efforts.
The Saudi Digital Library, the target of the current study, was established approximately in 2010, and was considered to be the largest Digital Library in the Middle East. The Saudi Digital library had subscribed in a vast number of databases, administrated by national and international publishers, covering different languages and various fields of human knowledge. It offered various services to the academic community, especially the higher education sector in the Kingdome of Saudi Arabia.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of Saudi Digital Library, SDL, as a new type of modern libraries that appeared lately in the Arab World. The study aimed to shed lights on the pros and cons of SDL to evaluate the current situation and improve the services offered.
