Abstract

This study aims to identify the impact factor of Arabic LIS periodicals by identifying the Arabic LIS periodical used by researchers in LIS. The study also aims to identify the most cited Arabic LIS periodical. Citation analysis was used and covered a stratified sample (25%) of doctoral theses deposited in Bibliotheca Alexandrina; the analysis covers mainly Arabic resources.
The results show that periodicals came in the second place (30.4%), (72.8%) of these citations came from 34 Arabic LIS periodicals, (18.2%) of them came from e-periodicals, and Cybrarians Journal ranked first.
The most cited periodical is Modern Trends in Libraries and Information (al etgahat alhadetha fal maktabat wal malomat) 15.9%, followed by the Magazine of Arab Libraries and Information (mgalet almaktabat wal malomat al Arabia) 14.5%. In average use, the highest is for Modern Trends in Libraries and Information 4.63, and the second is for Arabic Studies in Library and Information Science (derasat Arabia fel maktabat wal malomat) 4.53.
