يهدف  هذا البحث إلى دراسة العتبات النصية  في الخطاب الروائي المعاصر المتمثل في رواية "صديق قديم جدًّا"، للکاتب: إبراهيم أصلان، ورصد أنماطها- وفق ما ذکره جيرار جينيت Gérard Genette  مؤسس هذا المصطلح- وکشف دلالاتها ومقاصدها، وبيان مدى تعالقها مع مضمون المتن السردي. ولتحقيق ذلک اتبعت المنهج الوصفي في تحليل العتبات، وکشف ما تحمله من دلالات و إيحاءات ترتبط بالنص الأصل.
    وقد اقتضت طبيعة البحث تقسيم مادته العلّمية إلى مدخل نظري، ومبحثين، وخاتمة. ثم ثبت بأهم المصادر والمراجع، وجاء ذلک وفقًا لما يلي:
-المقدمة: عرّفت فيها موضوع البحث، وأهميته، وأسباب اختياره، وأهدافه، ومنهجه، وخطته.
-المدخل: تضمّن إيضاحا للکلمات المفتاحيّة: السيمائية، العتبات النصية، رواية " صديق قديم جدًّا" لإبراهيم أصلان.
- المبحث الأول: سيمائية النص المحيط النشري، ويتضمن تحليل عتبات: الغلاف الخارجي، والأغلفة الداخلية ، والمؤشر التجنيسي، وکلمة الناشر.
-المبحث الثاني: سيمائية النص المحيط التأليفي، ويتضمن تحليل عتبات: اسم الکاتب، والعنوان الرئيس، والعناوين الداخلية.
-الخاتمة: تتضمن بيانًا بأبرز النتائج التي توصل إليها البحث.
-قائمة المصادر والمراجع.
Abstract
    This research aims to study the textual thresholds in the contemporary narrative discourse represented in the novel "A Very Old Friend" by Ibrahim Aslan. This study also tends to monitor its patterns- according to what Gérard Genette, to reveal its connotations and purposes, and to show the extent of its relationship with the content of the narrative. To achieve this, I followed the descriptive approach in analyzing the thresholds, and revealing the connotations and suggestions related to the original text.
The study is divided as followed:
- An Introduction: in which I defined the research topic, its importance, the reasons for choosing it, its objectives, its methodology, and its plan.
- The first topic: includes an explanation of the key words: semiotics, textual thresholds, within  the novel "A Very Old Friend".
-The second topic tackles the semiotics of the published surrounding text and includes an analysis of thresholds: the outer cover, the inner cover, the anthropomorphic index, and the word of the publisher.
- The third topic illustrates the semiotics of the syntactic surrounding text, and includes an analysis of thresholds: the author's name, the main title, and the internal titles.
- Conclusion includes the main findings of the research.
-List of sources and references.
