This study deals with the settlement as one of the main topics of the Settlement Geography that largely concerned many geographers especially social geographers. The study aims at shedding more light on the conditions of the inhabitants of the rural areas in Upper Egypt in general, with concentration on the governorate of Assuit, with the aim of showing aspects of changes that took place on rural houses with its traditional traits, to show the extent of the relationship of these changes in the conditions of rural housing to these changes that took place in the Egyptian village, to try to explore the future of the manifestations of its image on the interactions between man and environment, and the attempt to forecast the directions of these changes on man's future,   the conditions of rural settlement in upper Egypt.
The researcher depends on some methods like: analysis of settlement, analysis of behavior, testing the mode of samples to save costs, and getting information near accurate within the least time possible. On this basis, sample of study is chosen according to choice of administrative centers, and villages.
