Capillary Gravitational Stability of Streaming Fluid Jet Pervaded by Oblique Varying Magnetic Field

Abstract

The stability of a streaming jet surrounded by self-gravitating tenuous medium and pervaded by oblique varying magnetic field under the combined effect of the capillary, self-gravitating and electromagnetic forces, has been discussed. The problem is formulated, the basic equations are solved upon applying appropriate boundary conditions, the dispersion relation is derived and discussed analytically and the results are verified numerically. The streaming has a strong destabilizing effect for all kinds of perturbation. For the axisymmetric mode (m=0) the capillary force is destabilizing in the domain 0, the self-gravitating force is destabilizing in the domain 0 and the electromagnetic force is destabilizing in all domains 0≤x<∞. For the non-axisymmetric mode, m≥1, both the capillary and self-gravitating forces are stabilizing while the electromagnetic force is stabilizing or destabilizing according to restriction. This means that for small values of β, the destabilizing action of the electromagnetic force could be neglected. Then the model under consideration will be purely stable in all modes for all, m≥1, short and long wavelengths.
