Abstract

The importance of the research lies in identifying the European styles that appeared in the era of the family of Muhammad Ali Pasha and the extent of their impact on one of the remaining buildings in Port Said, especially the churches, as these architectural styles of the city varied between neoclassical style, neo-Gothic style, neo-Renaissance style, and Baroque style. The rococo, the qaqti and the Arab-Islamic style due to the diversity of the communities inhabiting it, and the genius of its location on the Mediterranean coast at the entrance to the Suez Canal, and the supervision of the Suez Canal Authority on its establishment. The topic of the research is also of great importance in identifying the cultural and historical importance of Port Said, in addition to studying one of its archaeological landmarks, especially the Church of Saint Eugenie, which enjoys a privileged location that makes it a tourist destination with its own attractiveness. This Catholic church is one of the buildings of the nineteenth century AD, influenced by the European style, which has retained all its architectural and decorative elements dated 1886 AD, which influenced its history and made it one of the distinctive churches in the Canal region.Where the church contains a group of unique elements and paintings represented in oil paintings dated by the signature of its artists, in addition to nine marble altars.
