Tourism sustainable development is critical to the growth of any destination and more so for Egypt, one of the fastest growing in the world. To overcome the shortage of infrastructure against a growing demand in the state, large investments are required. But the shortage of funds in the public sector often hampers the pace of development. Green star hotel initiative was the first of its kind in fostering joint venture with private sector to overcome this difficulty Public-Private Partnership aimed at forging stronger collaboration between the Government and private sectors in the tourism industry. The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the role of ppp in greening the tourism industry by presenting a case study for a ppp project that has been implemented in Egypt in the tourism sector. Also to identify and analyze a new path for tourism development -public-private partnership-, and to expose the advantages deriving from this type of collaboration through the assessment of the effectiveness of such a project in marinating green tourism in Egypt.
