Abstract

Many media spread the supposed idea that Islam is a male-chauvinistic religion that cultivates violence and promotes terrorism. The origin of this movement is deeply rooted in the History. Perhaps one of the most important sources of dissemination of many misconceptions about the religion of Muslims dates back to the first translations of the Quran in Western languages. In this research, the role of the translations of the Quran in the configuration of a certain image of Islam and Muslims is analyzed.
