عرَّف أبو حنيفة الوقف بأنه: حبس العين على ملک الواقف، والتصدق بمنفعتها أو صرف منفعتها على من أحب؛ وعلى الرغم من ارتباط نظام الوقف بالحضارة الإسلامية بالهند؛ إلا أنه لندرة النصوص والوثائق؛ لم يتطرق کثير من الباحثين إلى دراسته في إقليم غرب البنغال بالهند في العصرين السلطاني والمغولي؛ وقد أثمرت الدراسة الميدانية للمتاحف والآثار الإسلامية بالهند عن (12) نقشا من النقوش الکتابية التي کان أغلبها مثبتً على جدران المنشآت الأثرية في البنغال في العصرين السلطاني والمغولي، ولا يزال بعضها باقيا حتى الآن؛ وبدراستها يمکننا الإجابة على التساؤلات التالية: ما هو نظام الوقف في البنغال في الفترة موضوع الدراسة ؟، وما هي أنواعه؟، وما هي شروطه؟ وما هي أنواع الأحباس التي کانت توقف على المنشآت؟ هل کان هناک نظام إداري مسؤل عن الوقف؟ هل هناک اختلاف بين نظام الوقف في العصر السلطاني والعصر المغولي. Abstract : Abu Hanifa explained the endowment system that it; Limited of property on the property of Al Mtwalli and giving its benefit or disbursing its benefit to whoever wants, However the endowment system is linked to the Islamic civilization in India, But due to the scarcity of texts and documents; No one mentioned his studies about the endowment system in India, The field study of Islamic museums and antiquities in India yielded (12) inscriptions from inscriptions, most of which were on the walls of ancient buildings in Bengal in the Sultanate and Mughal eras.  By studying them, we can answer the following questions: What is the endowment system in Bengal during the period under study and its types? What are its conditions? What are the details of the endowments that were allocated to them? Was there an administrative system responsible for the endowment? Is there a difference between the endowment system in the Sultanate and the Mughal era
