The effectiveness of Trichogramma evenesc;;;ns. Bacillus Ihuringiensis and
8eauveria bessien« against Ostrinia nubila/is on ~ili maize plantations (duting a
period sxtended from July ;5°·· to Nov. 15"') in 2001 and 2002 at Kafr EI·Sheikh district
was tested by reler.slng Ihe egg·parasitoid. T. evenesceas (tYlO releases at a rate of
33000 parasitoids (retease/teddan at 7-day interval) applying with B. /huringiensiS var.
Kurslaki (dipel 2)( at a rale of 2.5 gmIL) and t~e fungus. B. bassiana at a rate of 5 x
10⁷ conidia/mt. The mean percentages of infestation by O. nubila/is larvae at harvest
were 12.25% and 9.3% showing reduction in infeslation by 82.8 and 65.8%.

sprzyings of B. Ihuringiensis treatment led to 20.34 and 15.22% showing reduction in
infestation by 61.3 and 59.2%, whereas the mean percentages by Ihe fungus were
29.21 and 23.32% showing reduction in infestation by 32.72 and 34.03, respectively
as compared with control in 2001 and 2002.
