Abstract

This research aimed to identify knowledge level and adoption level of jasmine
farmers for the agricultural extension recommendations practices and to determine
the correlation relationship between dependent and independent variables also, to
identify the agricultural information sources through the adoption stages among
farmers for the idea of jasmine product. The study was conducted in eight villages in Outor and Basuyn districts in
Gharbia govemorate. Data were collected from a sample of 203 respondents (50%) of
total jasmine farmers by using personal interviews, frequencies, percentages, means,
simple and multiple correlations and regression coefficient were used for data
analysis. The results showed that: 1· The important sources of agricultural information through adoption stages were:
relatives, friends, personal experience, factory representative and great farmers
in village. 2· There was correlation relationship (positive and significant) between knowledge
level and jasmine farmers adoption level for the agricultural extension
recommendations practices as dependent variables and the following
independent variables: educational level of respondent's wife, size of farm, farm
size which cultivated with jasmine, jasmine production of one karat, attitude
toward jasmine agricultural technology, prepared of change and number of sons
who work in agriculture. 3· There was correlation relationship (negative and significant) between dependent
variables and distance between the jasmine farm and collecting center of jasmine
in the village. 4· The independent variables explained 51 % of variance in the knowledge level and it
also explained 46% of variance in the jasmine farmers adoption level for the
agricultural extension recommendations practices. The findings indicated that the Important problems of jasmine production for
the farmers were: deficiency of the extension technical marketing for jasmine product
and deficiency of extension recommendations through all the stages of jasmine
production on the other hand, the respondents suggested that: i) Informing the farmers how to market Jasmine crop.
ii) Supporting with pesticides and chemical fertilizers. iii) Giving the agricultural extension agent with technical information about
