This research aims at studying the level of awareness among the palm rees
farmers of the marketing problems. This research has been conducted at the govern
orates of Sehera and Ismailia using a random sample of 201 • 100 farmers from Edco
village Sahera govemorate. and 101 fanners from the village of Rayah, West Kantara,
Ismailia govemorate. Was data are COllected using a questionnaire through per onal
interview. For analyzing the data and presenting the results. the tables of dislrib tion
and frequencies have been used, in addition to the percentage, the arithmetic ean,
the Standard deviation and the (t) test. The major results were as follows:
1- 75% and 70,30 % of the farmers at Edco and Rayah villages are satisfied with
planting date palm trees respectively.
2- 67.0% of Edco village mentioned that the major marketing problem is the low price
of palm in comparison to the other fruit crops. On the other hand, the problim 01
the lac)( of storage places has been the major problem for 62,38 of the farmjfs at
the village 01 Rayah and this problem has been the major obstacle on the w~y of
exporting the product according to 49% of Edco village sample and 35.65% of the
sample at Rayah. Results have also shown that 65% of the village of fdco
sample complained 01 the high prices of wor1dng force while the ratio has een
51,48 at the village of Rayah.
3- The study also revealed that the sample individuals at the village of Edco were
more aware 01 the dates marketing problems than those of the village of Rayah ,
and the awareness ratio was 66% while it was only was 38,6%at the village of
Rayah. Also 61% of the Individuals of Edco were aware of the administrative
problems of dates marketing while this ratio has only been 36,64 % for the
individuals at the village of Rayah. The level 01 awareness of the problfm of
exporting the dates crop was 55% al the village of Edco while the rati9 was
39,60% at the village of Rayah. The level of awareness of the proble s of
production and finance for the dates crop was 58% at the village of Edco whi e the
ratio of awareness of the same problem was 40,60 % at the village of Rayah.
