The aim of this study is to throw the light on the current situation of
the Nile fisheries in the Egyptian fishery economy in the period between
(1991-2001).The study showed that although the Nile fisheries has I~n area of
about 1.4% of the Egyptian fisheries area but it's production is 12.~% only of
the Egyptian fisheries production through the period of study.The study has.
revealed that fish catch and fish income from Nile fisheries has shown an
ascending secular trend over the period of study.Annual growth rate of Nile
fisheries production was (8.3%), and annual growth of Nile fisheri~s income
was (5.7%). this is due to the high annual fish prices. Catch par u~it of effort
(CPUE) was about 3.9 Ton I boat annually, and about 2.7 Ton I rnaa annually

c/arias consists about 66.4% of the Nile catch composition and the seasonally
showed that the production was high through Summer and Autum and low
through Winter and Spring. Upper governorates share by about 68.7p < /em>'% of the
Nile production and the lower governorates by 31.28%. The ~tudy has
defined the required means to conserve the Nile rishery resources and
means to develop it.
