This study aims to determine the knowledge level of farmers and the workers at
fish farms about crayfish , its propagation, and control methods. Determine the
relationship between their knowledge level concerning crayfish propagation and
control methods as a dependent variable and each of the studied independent
variables.
Data were collected by personal interviews using questionnaire during January,
February and March 2005. The sample was 120 farmers and the workers at fish farms
of Sharkia, Dakahleya and Domiatta Governorates.
Means, Standard Deviation, Frecuencies, Percentage, and Simple Correlation
Coefficient were used to present and analyze data.
The results of this study can be summarized in:

Knowledge level of 80.8% of respondents was Medam and low.
The infetation of the fields and farms of 71.6% of the respondents are large.
97.5% of the respondents use the' chemical control methods.
53.3% of them burn the crayfish, and 5.8% only know the biological control
methods.
There is a significant positive relationship between the knowledge level of the
respondents about crayfish and its control recommendations as a dependant
variable and educational level and extension services as an independent variables.
There is a significant negative relationship between the the knowledge level of the
respondents about crayfish and its control recommendations as a dependant
variable and age as an independent variable.
