Despite the increase in fish production, the fish food gap is increasing year after year, which necessitates the need to identify the reasons behind its increase, and to try to find ways and means that work to reduce it, especially in light of the great development of fish farming, and the rate of self-sufficiency fluctuated from year to year, which necessitates the need to work on increasing the percentage of self-sufficiency from various sources of fish production, by following the best ways and means in the production and fishing operations. On the methods of descriptive and quantitative economic analysis, which were used to measure the general trends of the economic variables under study and their growth rates during the study period, by analyzing time series using the simple linear regression method, using some vector models included in the statistical program, where those models took mathematical forms. The study also relied on the data published from its secondary sources in the various numbers issued by the General Authority for Fisheries Development and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics. The results indicated first: the development of the fisheries gap. Second: Indicators of the fish gap. Third: the future strategy to confront the fish gap.
Recommendations:
1- Paying attention to and developing lakes.
2- Good areas for dish farming should be developed alongside the existing areas and expanded with the selection of fish species suitable for fish farming and the most appropriate balanced diets for fish feeding.
3- The study believes that more attention should be paid to investing in the fish production sector and planning the fisheries sector in order to increase production and reduce dependence on the outside, thus improving the fisheries balance and the trade balance.
Keywords: Fish production, fish gap, self-sufficiency, fish consumption.
