A field experiment was carried out during the two successive winter seasons of 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 in a clay soil at El-Gemmeiza Agric. Res. Station, Gharbeya Governorate, Egypt to study the effect of humic acid (0 and 5 kg/fed.) as soil application, foliar spraying with microelements, i.e., Fe at 100 ppm, Zn at 100 ppm, Mo at 25 ppm and B at 50 ppm beside unsprayed treatment on plant growth, yield and its components and seed quality of pea Master B cultivar.
The obtained results indicate that, the interactions between treated pea plants with humic acid as soil application at 5 kg /fed. and spraying with Fe at 100 ppm gave the highest values of plant height, number of leaves/plant, total dry weight of shoots/ plant, N and K contents in shoots and its uptake as well as total chlorophyll in the leaves, average pod weight, number of seeds/ pod, weight of 100 fresh seeds(g), yield/ plant and total yield/ fed., total protein and carbohydrate contents in seeds. In the other side, the highest values of total sugars in seeds were obtained with the interactions between humic acid and spraying with B at 50 ppm or Mo at 25 ppm, in both seasons. Regarding the concentration of microelements in seeds, the highest concentrations of Fe, Zn and B were recorded with the interaction treatments with humic acid and application of Fe, Zn or B, respectively.
The increases in total yield were about 76.23 and 76.83% for the interactions between humic acid and spraying with Fe , 63.89 and 67.71 % for the interactions between humic acid and spraying with B compared with untreated plants with humic acid or microelements in the 1st and the 2nd seasons, respectively.
Conclusively, from the foregoing results of this study, it could be concluded that, under the same conditions, treated pea plants with humic acid at 5 kg /fed. and spraying with Fe at 100 ppm was the best treatment for increasing plant growth and total yield / fed.as well as seed quality of pea.
