Abstract

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Antral membrane balloon elevation (AMBE) is minimal invasive method of sinus lift. The technique is accomplished with a limited incision, minimal flap reflection and small window. Thus, complication such as morbidity, blood loss, time, and pain reduced. AMBE technique elevate sinus membrane up to 10 mm.
Objective: to evaluate the efficacy of the sinus balloon technique via transcrestal maxillary sinus floor elevation.
Patients and Methods: The current study was conducted on 12 patients with their age ranged from 16 to 45 years, with limited bone height below the floor of the maxillary sinus. they were divided into two groups. group A patients received dental implants after sinus lifting using ballooning technique. While in group B patients received dental implants after transcrestal sinus lifting using Osteotomes. The bone density and bone height were measured by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Paired t-test, and descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the gained bone height bone density.
Results: Successful sinus lifting with balloon technique and osteotome technique with superior clinical and radiographic results of balloon technique. A total of 12 implants were placed. The radiographic examination showed the mean elevated height after 6 months in group A was 11.72±2.16mm. while in group B was 8.05±1.90 mm.
Conclusions: Balloon technique and osteotome technique are successful methods for sinus membrane lifting with superior clinical and radiographic results balloon technique.
Key words: Balloon technique; osteotome technique; transcrestal sinus lifting.
