Abstract

ABSTRACT: This paper puts forth a suggested concept to design a machine whose standardized parts belongs to a variety of codes. Rewards of adopting such a multi-standard concept are discussed versus the drawbacks of the conventional single-standard concept. In order to overcome relevant huge computations, the study takes advantages of an artificial intelligence scheme called “uphill climbing" embedded with constrained permutations trials. The study ends up with three application findings. First, mixing of even a few standards yields a robust tangible reduction of machines′ overall weight.  Second, the more the number of mixed standards in a machine, the lighter is the machine′s weight. Third, in the cases that both the machine′s manufacturer and its user undergo some parts shortage, a set of reliable alternative designs become readily accessible.
