Abstract
Egypt suffers from many social, economic and environmental problems due to the low rate of productivity resulting from the decrease in domestic and foreign direct investment, the decline of exports and the high unemployment rate that accelerates internal migration, which indicates that the current growth pattern is unsustainable and ineffective despite Egypt's possession of a distinguished geographical location and it has the most important global navigational arteries, and the availability of many ports along the Egyptian coast, but it still fails to keep pace with other countries in their rapid leaps towards progress in special economic zones, despite the availability of the human element and economic resources. Solving all these social, economic and environmental challenges requires the development of a national strategy for sustainable development in mega projects that can address all these conditions without deteriorating the surrounding environment. The development of the Suez Canal Economic Zone is one of these projects, which is widely indispensable not only to the prosperity of the Suez Canal Economic Zone but also to the Egyptian economy.
The scope of the study problem and its objective is determined in Foreseeing the role of the Suez Canal Economic Zone in achieving sustainable development in Egypt, and the importance of this study stems from the fact that it seeks to identify the concept, forms and role of special economic zones in achieving sustainable development in its economic, social and environmental dimensions. Deduce the role that the Suez Canal Economic Zone can play in achieving sustainable development in the Egyptian economy. the study plan addresses the following:
The first topic: the role of special economic zones in achieving sustainable development.
The second topic: Foreseeing the role of the economic zone of the Suez Canal in achieving sustainable development.
