Abstract

A modified approach is developed to predict the deformation of active thin-walled single-cell active composite beam of general cross-section under general loading. The theory takes into consideration the transverse shear due to restrained warping, and the bending wall effect. The analytical model for the equations of motions consisting of six non-homogenous coupled differential equations of 14th order is used. Then a study is made on torsion actuation of beams .Then simplification is made to study the efficiency of possible types of torsion actuation techniques. Finally rectangular active box-beams are studied under three different torsion actuation techniques.
