Abstract

The rate-distortion function with a mean square error distortion criterion is studied for Gaussian Markov sources .The funcpon is calculated for all distortion v4ues in the interval [O-o- The function is derived for the n -order Markov process , and is computed for two special cases : n = 1 and n = 2 , where n is the order of the process .
