Abstract

Background: For tracheobronchial diseases, fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) continues to be the gold standard diagnosing technique. It is a rather secure diagnostic and treatment method. Because of its excellent sensitivity, fiberoptic endoscopy is now the primary diagnostic method for assessing tracheobronchial endoluminal and mucosal diseases.
Objective: to compare traditional fiberoptic bronchoscopy, which is thought to be the gold standard screening tool for tracheobronchial pathologies, with virtual bronchoscopy as a screening tool in identifying tracheobronchial disorders in patients having clinical and/or radiological reason for bronchoscopy.
Patients and Methods: Patients who required tracheobronchial examination using bronchoscopy due to a clinical, radiological, or other reason were included. Women who were expecting or nursing, those with increased blood creatinine levels who weren't receiving regular dialysis, and people who couldn't undergo conventional bronchoscopy were all excluded from this research (for example, a recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina, severe arrhythmias, C02 retention, low PO2, coagulation malfunction, and unmanageable asthma).
Results: For the research, 50 patients were qualified. There were 50 research participants, 36 of whom were men (72%) and 14 of them were women (28%). The research group's average age was 59, with a standard deviation ± 14.
Conclusion: Virtual bronchoscopy is an innovative, non-invasive, accurate and uncomplicated diagnostic modality in the diagnosis of tracheobronchial diseases. In particular situations, VB could be the modality of choice, as in assessment of the airways distal to strictures or stenosis.
