Water bodies are facing many problems in Egypt due to the direct disposal of both raw domestic and industrial wastewater depending on the stream self purification. With the increase of pollution amounts the stream self purification takes long distance and period to recover the stream that affected by the repeating disposals which made the stream polluted along its length. This study covered the use of plastic media inside stream as a low cost bioreactor packing media that increased dissolved oxygen by 48.88% decrease COD and BOD by 75.8% % & 81.4% % respectively. It is also decrease total dissolved solids and turbidity by 51.5% & 87.2% respectively which helped to minimize the distance needed for self - purification process in water bodies through a less distance than required.
 
تواجه المسطحات المائية العديد من المشاکل في مصر بسبب التخلص المباشر من مياه الصرف الصحي المنزلية والصناعية الخام اعتمادًا على التنقية الذاتية للمجري. ومع زيادة کميات التلوث ، تستغرق التنقية الذاتية للمجري مسافة طويلة وفترة زمنية الستعادة المجري لصالحية نوعية المياه به لالستخدام الذي تأثر بالتخلص المتکرر مما أدى إلى تلوث المجري بکامل طوله. غطت هذه الدراسة استخدام الوسط البالستيکي داخل المجري کمفاعل حيوي منخفض التکلفة أدى إلى زيادة األکسجين المذاب بنسبة 88.48 ٪وتقليل COD و BOD بنسبة 8.75 ٪و 4.81 ٪على التوالي. کما أنه يقلل من إجمالي المواد الصلبة الذائبة والعکارة بنسبة 5.51 ٪و 2.87 ٪على التوالي مما ساعد على تقليل المسافة الالزمة لعملية التنقية الذاتية في المسطحات المائية إلي مسافة اقل من خمسين % منها في حالة عدم استخدامه.
