To achieve progress in comprehensive sustainable development (economic, social, urban, environmental...), is by increasing the rate of economic growth while mitigating pressures on the environment and natural resources, and ensure equitable distribution of the wealth between all regions and categories of the society. Sustainable development assessment is a complex process needs to easy and clear indicators, by which to measure cities progress towards sustainable development, also the sustainable development assessment methods differ from field to other according to expertise or study purpose. A few studies dealt with the assessment theme of the services performance and life quality in the Egyptian cities. Previous studies revealed that the current situation in El Arish city as an example to the Egyptian cities is deteriorated and what has been implemented in the practice is much less than the target, in addition to that, it is not entirely compatible with the schemes, laws…, which led to growing the city's problems such as visual image pollution, low level of the services,...etc. this research aims to verify the efficiency of the current situation of sustainable development in El Arish city, and also evaluate the level of efficiency of its services and quality of life and Compared it to the target in the city development plans. It has been used a set of an international applicable indicators so that they cover many sectors to measure level of the services performance and quality of life in the city. This study revealed that the indicators used to evaluate the level of sustainability in El Arish showed a big gap between the current situation of most city's services and the target in the city strategic development plans, it recommended the need to review the providing methods of the basic services to El-Arish city residents to match the required and target levels of efficiency and quality. Also analysis results of El Arish city sustainability indicators confirms that there is a big gap from the quantitative and qualitative aspect which increase or decrease from indicator to other to get to a competitive level and high rank in the classification of sustainable cities.
