The study aimed to identify the level of self-esteem and its relation to mental health in older persons who retired from work according to a number of variables (gender, age, marital status). The study was applied to a sample of 38 retirees, 22 femeles and 16 males . After analyzing the data obtained using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) program, the results of the study showed that:
- There is  a  significant relationship between self-esteem and  the mental health of older persons retire from work.
- There is no significant correlation between middle self-esteem and the mental health older persons retire from work.
- There is no significant correlation between low self-esteem and the mental health older persons retire from work.
 According  to these  results we can  conclude  that  the general hypothesis was realized  by 33%, which is the level required  for  obtaining significant relationship between self-esteem and  the mental health of older persons who retire from work.   هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على مستوى  تقدير الذات وعلاقته بالصحة النفسية لدى کبار السن المتقاعدين عن العمل  ذلک بعدد من المتغيرات (لجنس، العمر ، الحالة الاجتماعية )طبقت الدراسة على عينة قصدية  مکونة من (  38 متقاعد عن العمل ، منهم 22 متقاعدة و 16 متقاعد تم استخدم المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لمناسبته لأهداف الدراسة وطبيعتها، و بعد  تحليل البيانات التي تم الحصول عليها باستخدام برنامج الرزم الإحصائية للعلوم الاجتماعية  (spss)أظهرت نتائج الدراسة:
-       لا توجد علاقة ذات دلالة ارتباطية لمستوى تقدير الذات المرتفع بالصحة النفسية لدى کبار السن المتقاعدين
-       لا توجد علاقة ذات دلالة ارتباطية لمستوى تقدير الذات المتوسط بالصحة النفسية لدى کبار السن المتقاعدين
-       لا توجد علاقة ذات دلالة ارتباطية لمستوى تقدير الذات المنخفض بالصحة النفسية لدى کبار السن المتقاعدين
-       و منه تم تحقق الفرضية العامة ب نسبة 33% و التي مفادها لمستوى تقدير الذات علاقة ذات دلالة احصائية بالصحة النفسية لدى کبار السن المتقاعدين
