لقد تجلى الحزن في ديوان "وراء الغمام" لإبراهيم ناجي، وکان مبعثه عوامل اجتماعية، وسياسية، وذاتية. وتمثلت أبرز معاني الحزن في: الموت، العزلة، والغربة، والإحساس بهشاشة الحياة. وقد عبَّر الشاعر عن الحزن ابتداءً من عنوان الديوان، کما لجأ إلى تسمية القصائد بأسماء موحية بالحزن، وکذلک عن طريق الرمز في عدد من القصائد. واحتوى الديوان صوراً شعرية، وقدراً کبيراً من الألفاظ الموحية بالحزن، وکذلک الأساليب المتنوعة التي عبَّر خلالها الشاعر عن حزنه العميق. کما أسهمت موسيقى الديوان في إبراز حزن الشاعر وتشاؤمه.   Sadness was manifested in Ibrahim Naji's book "Beyond the Clouds", and its source was social, political, and subjective factors. The most prominent meanings of sadness were: death, isolation, alienation, and a sense of the fragility of life. The poet expressed sadness starting with the title of the book, and he also resorted to naming poems with names suggestive of sadness, as well as through the symbol in a number of poems. The book contained poetic images, a large amount of words suggestive of sadness, as well as the various methods through which the poet expressed his deep sadness. Diwan music also contributed to highlighting the poet's sadness and pessimism.
