Abstract

Light and scanning electron microscope study of the pollen grains of 47 species representing 16 genera of
Scrophulariaceae in Egypt was carried out. Pollen grains vary from subspheroidal to prolate; trizonocolpate to
trizonocolporate. Exine's sculpture is striate, colliculate, granulate, coarse reticulate or microreticulate. Seven pollen
types are recognized and briefly described, a key distinguishing the different pollen types and the discussion of its
systematic value are provided.
